Donating Clothing, Furniture and other goods
St Vincent de Paul welcomes the donation of good quality second hand Clothing, Furniture and other goods.
Please keep in mind that we either give these donations to needy families or sell them in our second hand shop to rise funds for our food bank and other welfare needs. The donation of poor quality goods costs our organisation thousands of dollars each year for disposal which we could be using to help those most in need in our community. Read on further to see more details about donating clothing or furniture and how these goods are used.

Clothing
St Vincent de Paul welcomes donations of good quality winter clothing to keep their stocks up for this chilly season. We are asking for donations of clean, good quality Babies, Boys, Girls, Men’s and Women’s clothing. These can be dropped into either of our stores or our Clothing Donation bins. Click here for more details of locations of these bins.
Furniture and other Goods
We also welcome the donation of good quality second hand bedding, furniture and other goods. Once again it is essential that these goods are in good /clean condition. These can be dropped to our Centre at 265 Stanmore rd or we can organise to pick up large loads or items with our delivery truck. Click here for our contact details.
How do we use your donations?
The Donated items are sorted at our store by our lovely volunteers at our Stanmore Rd Centre and then are used in two ways. Firstly every year we have hundreds of families that come to us for assistance due to loss of employment, sickness, relationship breakdown, other financial challenges. As well as offering the usual food and other welfare assistance there are many we assist with clothing or other goods, we happily help these families by passing on the lovely clothing and furniture our donors give us.
Secondly we have three Vinnies shops in Christchurch, one in Langdons Rd,Shands Road and one in Stanmore Rd, these shops sell second hand quality clothing along and other goods at great prices. The sale of this clothing not only allows people to get quality goods at much lower than retail prices but the funds from their purchases allows Vinnies to provide other essential services to those most in need. St Vincent de Paul assists over 400 people every week in the Christchurch region.
